Practicing Art

I embrace the power to challenge the status quo in the third act of my life.

I am a contemporary landscape artist whose dreamlike evocative work in gouache and watercolor on wood panels or paper captures the serene yet powerful essence of natural vistas. Deeply rooted in the dynamic spirit of Fauvism, Expressionism, Impressionism, and Surrealism, My style is a unique synthesis that explores the emotional and inherent beauty of both rugged and expansive landscapes.

I practice many forms of Art. Some for myself, some for Wearable Art, merchandise and prints, and originals for sale. Shop here for for merchandise, prints and originals!

The Vision: Cosmic Cycles, Equity, and Renewal

I draw inspiration from the rich and varied terrains of the United States and the British Isles, with a particular focus on the American West, the vibrancy of the skies, and the fluid grace of flowing streams and waterfalls. My aesthetic is defined by a bold, distinctive approach to color and light, often blending hues not typically found in nature to create a compelling visual dialogue. I view color as the heartbeat of my art, using it to create a tapestry of familiarity and imagination.

At the core of my artistic vision is a deep reflection on the sacred cycles of creation, destruction, and renewal. I am fascinated by the eternal rhythm of birth, death, and potential rebirth that pervades the Cosmos and our natural world. My work seeks to capture this possibility of regeneration amidst decay, offering a lens through which we can find hope and resilience.

While landscapes are my primary subject, I also explore figurative work, animal studies, and still lifes. My foundational practice—built through private lessons and institutional education—emphasizes an intensive study of complementary and contrasting hues, allowing me to continually refine my craft.

Extending the Canvas: Wearable Art and Resistance

In an exciting evolution of my creative vision, I have partnered with Le Galeriste to transform my vibrant artworks into high-end wearable fashion and home accessories. This Wearable Art initiative ethically adapts my expressive paintings to soft, high-quality fabrics, allowing collectors to carry the energy of my original compositions into their daily lives.

The Practice: Minimalism and Reflection

I view my art as an act of resistance against authoritarianism and the existential threats to individual liberty. Through my work, I champion a message of equity and justice, aiming to inspire conscious appreciation and active participation in moving toward a more harmonious, inclusive world.

In all my work, my approach is direct and minimalist, aiming to distill the essence of the subjects I portray. I aspire to create a reflective and dreamlike space where viewers can find a momentary escape from the chaos of everyday life, finding solace in the peace and serenity of nature’s beauty. My art offers a window into a serene and harmonious world, underscoring my belief that art is essential for weaving connections through shared human experience.

Today, my creative practice extends beyond the brush to include writing essays and sharing my thoughts on Substack, where I continue to produce work for sale and personal reflection.
